Words are Boring

First, let me set the stage for you.
It is evening time, and my husband recently got home. I am getting the lunch and breakfasts ready for the next work day. There is a pot with leftover pieces of a plant, that he used to make tea earlier in the day. I had already removed the water but was waiting to know if he would want to reboil them.
My Husband came to hug me while I was busy in the kitchen (Aww, how sweet!).
Me: "What do you want to do with these leftover pieces?" (Geesh why am I talking about that when he came over to hug me!)
My Husband: "Put more water in there, I will let it boil again."
Me: "Ok tell me when to stop" (As I put water in the pot.)
The water kept filling up and I was starting to wonder just how much water was needed.
Then my husband kissed my shoulder.
I did not react at all. Still wondering about the water.
My Husband: "Let's see if you can learn the code. You have to learn the language of marriage. Words are boring."
Now, of course by this point I have turned the water off as the realization of what he said hits me (it took a second). The kiss was the cue to stop, but more than that...
he was flirting with me, and sounding philosophical all at the same time! And I ALMOST missed it!
